Institution: The global fleet of self-driving taxis is expected to exceed 3 million vehicles by 2035.
Analysts at Macquarie stated in a research report that the global fleet of autonomous taxis could increase from around 7,000 vehicles in 2025 to over 500,000 vehicles in 2030, and surpass 3 million vehicles by 2035. They mentioned that as leading autonomous taxi service providers overcome regulatory concerns and enter the traditional taxi and rideshare market, the industry's growth could be exponential. They projected that by the end of 2035, the total transaction volume of global autonomous taxis is expected to reach between 80 billion and 465 billion US dollars. They noted that despite the accelerating integration of autonomous taxis with traditional cars, the market is still underestimating the opportunities they bring. They also predicted that more car manufacturers, top-tier suppliers of automotive parts, and electronics companies will enter the industry, increasing the utilization of autonomous taxi technology but also intensifying competition.
