Institution: The Thai Baht is expected to weaken against the US Dollar to around 32.00 by the end of 2026.
Fitch Solutions' subsidiary BMI stated in a report that by the end of 2026, the Thai baht is expected to weaken to around 32.00 against the US dollar. BMI expressed that in the future, with the Thai government's regulations restraining the flow of funds associated with gold, the positive correlation between gold prices and the Thai baht is expected to decrease. BMI noted that starting from March 1st, the Bank of Thailand will implement a daily limit of 50 million baht for gold transactions, and any amount exceeding this threshold will require prior approval. Additionally, BMI added that the Bank of Thailand may prioritize growth and further reduce its policy interest rate by another 50 basis points to 0.75% in 2026. FactSet data showed that the US dollar rose by 0.2% against the Thai baht, reaching 31.09 baht.
