Climate change has increased the risk of forest fires in Chile and Argentina.
The "World Weather Attribution Alliance", an international research institution, released a report on the 11th, pointing out that climate change caused by human activities is an important factor in the recent severe forest fires in central and southern Chile and the Argentine Patagonia region. Due to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions, summers in some regions of Argentina and Chile are becoming drier, leading to more frequent fires. Scientists calculated using the "hot dry wind index" that climate change has increased the likelihood of similar fires in central and southern Chile by about 3 times and in the Argentine Patagonia region by about 2.5 times.
