On February 12, according to the website of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics, in January 2026, the month-on-month consumer price index (CPI) in Beijing rose, while the year-on-year increase narrowed. From a month-on-month perspective, the CPI rose by 0.3%. Among them, food prices remained stable. Within food, the prices of fresh fruits rose by 2.6%, affecting the CPI to rise by about 0.05 percentage points; egg and aquatic product prices rose by 2.4% and 2.2% respectively; with a relatively sufficient market supply, the price of fresh vegetables changed from a 4.7% increase to a 4.3% decrease, affecting the CPI to decrease by about 0.08 percentage points; pork prices decreased by 0.3%. Non-food prices rose by 0.4%, impacting the CPI to rise by about 0.34 percentage points. Among non-food items, industrial consumer goods prices rose by 0.6%, among which, the prices of gold jewelry rose by 8.2%, while gasoline prices dropped by 1.3%; service prices rose by 0.4%, among which, due to increased holiday travel demand, the prices of transportation rental, airline tickets, out-of-town accommodation, and travel agency fees rose by 12.5%, 10.7%, 1.1%, and 0.2% respectively. From a year-on-year perspective, due to the impact of the lunar new year holiday falling in a different month, the CPI rose by 0.1%, with an decrease of 0.9 percentage points compared to the previous year. Among them, food prices rose by 0.4%. Within food, the prices of fresh vegetables and fresh fruits rose by 10.4% and 1.2% respectively, affecting the CPI to rise by about 0.18 percentage points; beef and lamb prices rose by 4.5% and 3.5% respectively; poultry and aquatic product prices rose by 2.4% and 2.0% respectively; pork and egg prices decreased by 15.2% and 10.9% respectively. Non-food prices rose by 0.1%. Among non-food items, industrial consumer goods prices rose by 1.4%, among which, the prices of gold jewelry rose by 79.6%, the prices of large household appliances and entertainment durable goods rose by 6.8% and 5.0% respectively, while gasoline prices decreased by 11.9%; service prices decreased by 0.3%, among which, travel agency fees, out-of-town accommodation, and airline ticket prices decreased by 10.6%, 6.2%, and 4.9% respectively.
