Starter motor poses fire hazard, BMW recalls multiple models worldwide.
German car manufacturer BMW Group announced on February 11th local time that it is recalling multiple series of vehicles worldwide. BMW stated that during product testing, it was found that the electromagnetic switch inside the starter motor may experience abnormal wear after multiple starts, leading to difficulty starting the vehicle or even failure to start. There is also a risk of short circuit, which could cause the starter motor to overheat locally. BMW mentioned that in extreme cases, there is a risk of fire while driving, and advised owners not to leave the vehicle unattended while the engine is still running. The recall includes various BMW models, such as the 2 Series Coupe, multiple versions of the 3 Series, 4 Series, and 5 Series, the 6 Series Gran Turismo, 7 Series sedans, as well as the X4, X5, X6, and Z4.
