The first batch of EMU trains of the East Coast Rail Link project, undertaken by China Communications Construction Company Limited, officially debuted at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Station in the state capital of Pahang, Malaysia on the 11th. On that day, guests attending the ceremony for the commissioning of the EMU trains and electric locomotives, as well as the handover ceremony of the appointment letter to the mobile network infrastructure service provider, took a test ride on the EMU train and visited the various modern facilities on board. Malaysian Minister of Transport Anthony Loke expressed in his speech at the ceremony his expectation that the new trains will bring a smooth, comfortable, and convenient travel experience to local residents, making the East Coast Rail Link an important engine driving the economic development of the surrounding areas. Malaysian Minister of Communications Gobind Singh Deo stated that as the East Coast Rail project progresses, digital construction represented by communication facilities is also advancing synchronously, jointly building an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem. Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing stated in his speech that the overall progress of the East Coast Rail project has reached 91.7%, and the commissioning of the EMUs and electric locomotives marks an important step towards transitioning the project from high-quality construction to high-level operation. China is willing to work hand in hand with Malaysia to make the East Coast Rail a demonstration project that continues the traditional friendship between China and Malaysia and shares the fruits of development. The East Coast Rail project, with a total length of 665 kilometers, is the flagship project of the cooperation between China and Malaysia under the Belt and Road Initiative. Upon completion, it will greatly promote connectivity along the route and drive economic development in the East Coast region of Malaysia.
