The US Treasury auction shows an increase in the allocation of quotas to foreign investors.
A strategist at TD Securities in the US said that while investors are still concerned about the safe-haven status, high deficits, and perceived lack of demand in the US Treasury market, auction allocation data from the US Treasury Department shows that in recent months foreign investors' allocations in US Treasury auctions have been increasing. They said that this growth is relatively widespread, with allocations for auctions of various maturities on the rise. They said that although foreign investors' allocations in US Treasury auctions have been rebounding for some time, the allocations in November and December have both increased significantly. "This suggests that, even though risks abound, high term premiums may still be driving additional demand for US Treasuries."
