Bank of China: Continuously building the London offshore renminbi market

Recently, the first meeting of the China-UK Financial Working Group was held in Beijing. As a supporting activity of the China-UK Financial Working Group, a roundtable was held with financial institutions. Ge Haijiao, Chairman of the Bank of China, was invited to attend the roundtable and gave a speech. Ge Haijiao stated that the Bank of China will work together with the financial sectors of China and the UK to implement the important consensus of the leaders of the two countries, continuously build the London offshore RMB market, explore innovation in settlement, financing, trading, and investment, and promote new achievements in the construction of the London financial center; jointly promote global green finance development, seize the broad cooperation opportunities in the field of green bonds, transition finance, etc. between China and the UK, provide more "China-UK solutions" for global sustainable development; vigorously promote the interconnectivity of the financial markets of the two countries, build a multi-level, multi-market cross-border financial service system, provide diversified complementary investment channels and product supply for the operating entities of the two countries, and effectively support the transformation of the great potential for cooperation between China and the UK into tangible results.
