The General Office of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and the Work Committee of the Standing Committee held a briefing on the situation of national representatives in Beijing on the 5th, in preparation for the attendance of representatives at the Fourth Session of the Fourteenth National People's Congress. The leading comrades of the General Office of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress reported on the main work of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress since the Third Session of the Fourteenth National People's Congress and the preliminary work arrangements for 2026. Under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, the National People's Congress and its Standing Committee adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implement the spirit of the 19th National Party Congress and the various plenary sessions of the 20th Central Committee, conscientiously implement the deployment of the Fourth Plenary Session, deeply understand the decisive significance of "two safeguards," strengthen the "four consciousnesses," firm up the "four confidences," and ensure the "two upholds." Centering on the central work of the Party and the country, they have fulfilled their duties in accordance with the law, earnestly completed the tasks assigned by the Third Session of the Fourteenth National People's Congress, and made new progress and achievements in all aspects of work. 2026 marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress will strengthen the implementation and supervision of the Constitution, ensure and serve reform and development through high-quality legislation, fully play the important role of the People's Congress in the supervision system of the Party and the country, and support and guarantee the representatives in performing their duties in accordance with the law. The Fourth Session of the Fourteenth National People's Congress will be held in Beijing on March 5. It is hoped that all representatives will conduct solid research around the themes of the conference, carefully review the thoughts and expectations of the grassroots masses, carefully prepare legislative proposals and deliberations, and lay a solid foundation for the smooth and successful completion of all the scheduled tasks of the conference. It is understood that since the Third Session of the Fourteenth National People's Congress, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress has reviewed 38 draft laws, legal interpretations, and relevant decisions, and passed 24 of them, including the formulation of 6 laws, the amendment of 14 laws, the approval of 1 legal interpretation, 3 decisions on relevant legal issues and major issues; heard and reviewed reports on 22 supervision works, inspected the implementation of 5 laws, organized 2 special inquiries, conducted 11 special investigations, and made 1 resolution; decided to approve 9 treaties and important agreements; and decided on the appointment and removal of 233 officials of state organs. Relevant comrades from the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance respectively briefed on the draft outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the implementation of the 2025 national economic and social development plan, the execution of the central budget in 2025, and the financial work. The Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and other relevant departments of the State Council submitted written reports. These reports will be pushed to all representatives through the National People's Congress representative work information platform for their reference before attending the conference.
