The S&P 500 index closed down 0.5% initially, with the technology sector dropping 1.8%, the telecommunications sector falling 1.7%, the consumer discretionary sector declining 1.2%, and the healthcare, real estate, and raw materials sectors rising by over 1%. The energy sector rose by 2.2%. The Nasdaq 100 index closed down 1.7%, with AMD down 16.6%, Applovin down 16%, Palantir down 11.6%, Micron Technology, Western Digital, nuclear stocks CEG, Applied Materials, and Seagate Technology all falling by at least 6%, while Diamondback Energy rose by 3.6% and Argenx rose by 8%. Nike rose by 5.3%, 3M by 5%, Disney by 3.1%, and Apple by 2.7%, leading the Dow Jones Industrial Average component stocks, with Nvidia falling by 3.3%, performing the worst.
