A journalist asked: Recently, the European Commission announced that, based on the "Foreign Subsidies Regulation", it has initiated an in-depth investigation into Chinese wind power companies. What is China's response to this? China has taken note of the situation. In recent periods, the European side has frequently used the "Foreign Subsidies Regulation" investigation tool to launch investigations against Chinese companies, and has upgraded the investigations into wind power and security equipment enterprises to in-depth investigations, which are clearly targeted and discriminatory. China is highly concerned and strongly dissatisfied with this. The European side's investigations into "foreign subsidies" are generalized and have many issues such as insufficient evidence for filing a case and lack of transparency in procedures, typical of practicing protectionism under the guise of "fair competition". In January 2025, the Ministry of Commerce, after investigation, has legally determined that the European side's actions constitute trade and investment barriers. Instead of correcting its course, the European side is moving further along the wrong path. Chinese green industries such as wind power rely on continuous technological innovation, a well-developed industrial system, and full market competition to provide high-quality green products for global climate change mitigation, making positive contributions. The European side's abuse of investigations not only seriously disrupts mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Europe, affects the confidence of Chinese companies investing in Europe, but also delays its own and global green transformation process. China has always advocated resolving differences through dialogue and consultation, opposed to politicizing and securitizing economic and trade issues. We urge the European side to immediately correct its wrong practices, use caution in using the FSR unilateral investigation tool, and create a fair, just, and predictable market environment for China-Europe cooperation. China will closely monitor developments and take necessary measures to firmly defend the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
