The Sudanese Armed Forces announced that the town of Kadugli has been "liberated".
Khartoum News: The Sudanese armed forces announced on the 3rd that they have lifted the siege on the capital of South Kordofan state, Kadugli, by the Rapid Support Forces and their allies, the Sudan People's Liberation Movement, which lasted for more than two years. The Sudanese Special Operations Forces under the command of the armed forces claimed to have successfully entered Kadugli. The spokesperson for the Sudanese armed forces also issued a statement that day, saying that after fierce fighting, the military successfully opened the Kadugli-Dilling highway. The Rapid Support Forces and their allies suffered significant casualties and equipment losses. The Chairman of the Sudan Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, Burhan, confirmed in a media interview that the siege of Kadugli had been lifted. Kadugli has been besieged by the Rapid Support Forces since July 2023. In November 2025, a report compiled by United Nations agencies confirmed that the city has experienced a famine. On April 15, 2023, armed conflicts erupted between the Sudanese military and the Rapid Support Forces in the capital, Khartoum, spreading to other areas. The armed conflict, which has been ongoing for nearly three years, has resulted in a large number of civilian deaths.
