Insider: Kazakhstan's Tengiz oil field daily production recovered to 183,000 barrels on February 1st.
Two sources familiar with operational data said that the oil production at the giant Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan, which was shut down in mid-January, has continued to recover in the past few days. The Tengiz oil field, which accounts for nearly 40% of Kazakhstan's production, was closed on January 18 due to an electrical equipment fire, reducing the total oil supply of this Central Asian country, while the interruption of its main oil pipeline has already limited exports. The sources said that the oil production at Tengiz has increased from 14,900 tons on Saturday to 23,000 tons on Sunday. They said production is expected to continue to increase, reaching 54,000 tons by Wednesday. The operator Tengizchevroil, led by Chevron, said that the company is gradually increasing production as conditions permit, but did not comment on specific operational or commercial details.
