The UK Treasury is offering up to 100,000 in compensation to officials who volunteer to leave as part of a downsizing plan. According to reports, several sources revealed that UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak plans to reduce around 300 of the approximately 2,100 staff in his department by 2030. The Treasury has also frozen external recruitment for many non-essential positions. Officials may still be dismissed if there are not enough voluntary departures from offices in London, Darlington, Norwich, and Edinburgh. The Treasury told the Financial Times, "The Treasury is currently at its largest size in history."
