Restore and manage 517,000 acres of degraded grasslands in Tibet by 2025.
On the 31st, it was learned from the Fourth Session of the Twelfth People's Congress of the Tibet Autonomous Region that Tibet plans to restore and manage 5.17 million mu of degraded grassland and control 230,000 mu of soil erosion by 2025, aiming for green development and creating an ecological civilization highland. In the past five years, Tibet has strengthened its ecological security, implemented the strictest environmental protection system, coordinated the integrated protection and systematic management of mountains, waters, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands, and deserts, and made progress in building an ecological civilization highland. By 2026, Tibet plans to deepen the implementation of river and lake management and forest management, and implement key ecological restoration projects in the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin and other critical areas, expecting to complete the afforestation of more than 400,000 mu, including 200,000 mu for the North and South Mountain afforestation projects. In addition, Tibet will also restore and manage 2.2 million mu of degraded grassland and control 250,000 mu of soil erosion.
