Brazil's finance minister proposes that an ally from the Ministry of Finance be appointed as a director to fill the vacancy at the central bank.
Brazilian Finance Minister Fernando Ade proposed to President Luiz Incio Lula da Silva to appoint an ally from the Finance Ministry to fill a vacant position on the board of the Central Bank of Brazil. Ade has nominated the Secretary of Economic Policy at the Finance Ministry, Geraldo Melo, as a candidate for one of the two vacant seats on the central bank's board. It is currently unclear whether the Brazilian president will accept Ade's proposal this time.
