The number of dead in Indonesian landslides has risen to 53.

The Indonesian National Disaster Mitigation Agency announced on January 28 that the landslide that occurred on January 24 in the Cisarua area of West Java's West Bandung Regency has resulted in 53 deaths. The announcement stated that the bodies of 53 victims have been found in the search and rescue efforts over the past 5 days, with 35 of them already identified. The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs has provided compensation to the families of the identified victims. Currently, rescue teams are still conducting search and clearance operations in the landslide area. Due to continuous rainfall, the soil conditions are unstable and the rescue operation on site remains high risk. The Indonesian National Disaster Mitigation Agency has initiated artificial weather modification operations.
