Mortgage rates in the United States climbed for the first time in four weeks, interrupting the momentum of home buying and refinancing activities at the beginning of the year. According to data released by the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) on Wednesday, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose by 8 basis points to 6.24% for the week ending January 23.
