Asmei closes record orders in 2025, AI spending remains steady.
ASML recorded a record quarterly order amount for semiconductor manufacturing equipment and indicated that it expects sales to achieve steady growth this year. This indicates that despite concerns about market bubbles, spending by customers on producing advanced process chips remains strong, driven by the AI boom. The Dutch company's fourth-quarter order amount was 13.16 billion euros, higher than the 7.09 billion euros in the same period last year, and significantly higher than the analyst forecast of 6.95 billion euros compiled by Visible Alpha. ASML's extreme ultraviolet lithography system order amount was 7.4 billion euros, far exceeding Visible Alpha's forecast of 4.41 billion euros; these high-end devices allow chip manufacturers to print the most precise circuit layers on semiconductors. This is ASML's last disclosure of quarterly order data. For a long time, this indicator has been the preferred data for investors to measure the company's performance, but ASML executives believe that the addition of the order amount may fluctuate significantly between quarters, and therefore may not accurately reflect the business development momentum. From now on, ASML will announce its total backlog orders annually.
