The United Parcel Service (UPS) announced on the 27th that it plans to reduce about 30,000 operational positions this year and close 24 business outlets by the end of June. This round of layoffs is part of the business restructuring and transformation plan implemented by the company since April last year. On April 29, 2025, UPS announced that it will reduce costs and improve profitability through large-scale layoffs and closing of operational facilities. In 2025, the company cut a total of 48,000 positions and closed 93 business outlets. The company stated that the business restructuring is related to the decrease in business volume from retail giant Amazon. In January 2025, the company announced a tentative agreement with Amazon, stating that by the second half of 2026, Amazon's business volume delivered through UPS will decrease by more than 50%.
