Yang Mu, Director of the Department of Market Operation and Consumer Promotion of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, stated at a press conference on the 26th that one of the highlights of the consumer market in 2025 is the increasing popularity of inbound consumption. With the expansion of the scope of visa-free countries and the optimization and upgrading of the outbound tax refund policy, the trend of "Chinese travel" and "Chinese shopping" continues to be hot, with the sales of tax refund goods increasing by almost double. In the past year since the implementation of the 240-hour transit visa-free policy, the number of foreign visitors entering the country without a visa has increased by nearly 30%. Bloomberg commented that China is making the largest effort ever to attract foreign tourists, and that the Chinese economy is fundamentally different from the West, with consumers having absolute power of speech.
