Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) plans to build a green smart lithium battery manufacturing base in the Dianzhong New Area in Yunnan. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026.

The People's Government of Kunming City and the Administrative Committee of Yunnan Dianzhong New Area signed a trilateral strategic cooperation agreement with CATL (Ningde Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.) on January 27, focusing on new energy batteries, green energy, green transportation, and low-altitude economy for in-depth cooperation. They plan to plan and construct a lithium battery green smart manufacturing base in the Yunnan Dianzhong New Area, with construction scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2026.
