Hubei officially announces: Creating a large metropolitan area in Wuhan beyond the norm.

On the morning of January 27th, the fourth session of the 14th Hubei Provincial People's Congress opened in Wuhan. Hubei Governor Li Dianxun stated that by 2026, Hubei will use the concept of urban integration to surpasses conventional norms in building a wide-ranging Wuhan metropolitan area, creating a nationally important growth pole. Through cluster-based and networked development, it will enhance the spatial coordination of the "Jin Triangle" of Han, Xiang, and Yi, support Xiangyang in becoming the central city of the central and western regions, and support Yichang in becoming a regional central city connecting the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River. They will jointly build the Han, Xiang, and Gui inland waterway transportation channel, Jingzhou-Yueyang high-speed rail, and other inter-regional channels to enhance the overall development efficiency of the "central triangle."
