According to the Greek national broadcaster, ERT, a food factory in the city of Tricala, in the central Thessaly region of Greece, exploded in the early hours of the 26th, resulting in 4 deaths, 1 person missing, and multiple injuries. The accident occurred at a local biscuit factory, where the explosion caused a strong shockwave that tore the factory building into two parts, with some walls overturned and the roof collapsed. There were a total of 13 workers on the night shift at the time of the incident. Rescuers found the bodies of 4 female workers at the scene of the accident, with 1 female worker still missing. Many people were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, and the injured are currently not in life-threatening condition. Due to the fire caused by the explosion not yet being completely extinguished, coupled with severe damage to the building structure, on-site rescue and investigation work face significant difficulties. According to the Greek newspaper "Everyday News," the investigation into the cause of the accident has already begun, with the current focus on checking for gas leaks. The explosion is said to have occurred in the factory's production workshop, specifically in the area where gas-operated baking ovens are located.
