Recently, data released by the market research firm IDC shows that the shipment of foldable screen smartphones in China is expected to reach about 10.01 million units by 2025, a year-on-year increase of 9.2%. This represents a growth against the overall smartphone market growth rate of -0.6%, but it is a significant decline compared to the 30.8% growth rate seen in 2024. The market is also becoming more polarized, with Huawei holding a market share of over 70%, creating a "one dominant" pattern, while brands like Honor, vivo, OPPO, and Samsung each have a market share of less than 10%. In the fourth quarter of 2025, the shipment of foldable screen smartphones in China reached 2.31 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 8.0%, showing a trend of temporary adjustment. Despite the launch of the Huawei Mate X7 series, its late release limited its impact on the overall market in that quarter. However, looking ahead to 2026, a major change is brewing as multiple sources in the supply chain indicate that Apple's first foldable screen iPhone is scheduled for release in the fall of 2026.
