United Nations agency: Approximately 8 million children in Sudan have lost the opportunity to receive education.
On January 23 local time, Eva Hainz, a UNICEF official in Sudan, stated that due to the armed conflicts in Sudan, approximately 8 million children in the country have lost the opportunity to receive education, putting the future of an entire generation at serious risk. Hainz mentioned that the destruction caused by the conflicts has led to the closure of around 6,400 schools in Sudan, accounting for one-third of the total number of schools in the country, with approximately 11% of schools being used for purposes such as accommodating displaced people. She also mentioned that since the outbreak of the conflicts, nearly 5 million children have been forced to flee their homes.
