The Chief Executive Officer of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Batrice Kidd, recently stated in an interview with Xinhua News Agency reporters during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, that in recent years, China has actively participated in international cooperation on sustainable development, becoming an important player in global sustainable development and making significant contributions to helping countries around the world address complex and changing risks and challenges. Kidd told reporters that the world is currently facing three major risks: the impact of global climate change on productivity and investment, global trade and the global value chain being affected by increasingly tense geopolitical situations, and rapid technological changes such as artificial intelligence posing challenges to traditional governance. He believes that the urgent need is to coordinate policies, capital, and business actions, accelerate green and low-carbon transition, and implement sustainable development strategies. In Kidd's view, China is a representative economy that is currently achieving successful transformation. China is an important manufacturing hub globally, with a rapidly developing innovation ecosystem, and is a leader in the large-scale application of clean technologies. "These capabilities are shaping the global decarbonization pathway." The World Business Council for Sustainable Development was established in 1995 and has over 200 multinational company members. Kidd said that in recent years, the council has actively communicated with Chinese enterprises and established exchange mechanisms such as the "Two Lakes Dialogue." "We see Chinese companies dedicated to sharing practical experiences, developing solutions, and connecting Chinese innovations with the global market." Kidd expressed that China will play an important role in the next phase of global sustainable development, not only continuing to drive its own transformation, but also making contributions to global sustainable development practices.
