Since the opening of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the transportation in the Qiongzhou Strait has become increasingly busy. Recently, the Haikou Maritime Bureau released data showing that in the first month of the closure of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the maritime department ensured the safe passage of 1.608 million passengers and 475,000 vehicles, an increase of 9.9% and 7.0% respectively compared to the previous month. According to statistics, the total number of ships entering and leaving the port reached 12,146, with a cargo throughput of 11.7323 million tons, including a container throughput of 109,500 TEUs. The on-time departure rate of passenger and roll-on/roll-off transport ships remains high at 99.2%.
