Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission: China's social security situation continues to improve.
The Central Political and Legal Work Conference held in Beijing on January 18-19 introduced that by 2025, the national public sense of security will reach 98.23%, maintaining above 98% for the 6th consecutive year. The national criminal cases decreased by 12.8% year-on-year, the lowest since the beginning of this century. Public security cases decreased by 3.5% year-on-year, indicating a continuous improvement in public security situation. It is reported that the political and legal organs achieved significant victories in cracking down on telecommunications fraud crimes in 2025, delivering a crushing blow to the "Four Major Families" criminal group in northern Myanmar, transferring 57,000 criminals back to the country, and escorting the leader of the gambling fraud criminal group, Chen Zhi, back to the country. Historic achievements were made in combating drug crimes, with the number of drug users nationwide decreasing by 63% compared to the end of 2020. In 2025, the number of minors under prosecution and the number of crimes against minors accepted by the prosecution organs decreased by 9.8% and 2.2% respectively compared to the previous year, achieving a "double decrease" for the first time.
