On January 14, the Fengyun-3D satellite transmitted a true color image with a resolution of 250 meters, showing that the main area of the world's largest iceberg A23a is now only 506 square kilometers, less than one-eighth of its size when it broke off from the Antarctic ice shelf. Just three weeks ago, the main body of the iceberg still had 948 square kilometers. According to the China Meteorological Administration, from its original size of 4170 square kilometers when it broke off from the Antarctic ice shelf in 1986, the main body of A23a is now only 506 square kilometers, indicating that the iceberg, which has been adrift in the Southern Ocean for 40 years, is now entering its final stage of disintegration.
