In 2025, the new energy generation in Shanxi Province exceeded 100 billion kilowatt hours for the first time.

According to State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Co., Ltd., by the year 2025, Shanxi's new energy generation will reach 118 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 26% compared to the previous year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of about 35 million households, saving approximately 36 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 88 million tons. In 2025, Shanxi will add 16.914 million kilowatts of grid-connected wind and solar new energy, an increase of 53.1% compared to the previous year. By the end of 2025, Shanxi's new energy installed capacity will reach 78.808 million kilowatts, accounting for nearly 50% of the province's total installed capacity, accelerating the green and low-carbon transformation of the energy structure. The high-quality development of new energy cannot do without the support of a strong power grid. Since the 14th Five-Year Plan, State Grid Shanxi Electric Power has completed the construction and operation of 26 new energy collection stations, providing strong support for the grid connection of over 40 million kilowatts of new energy. In addition, Shanxi will use market mechanisms to absorb new energy generation, with 22.2 billion kilowatt-hours of new energy traded in the market in 2025, accounting for 18.8% of new energy generation.
