The total number of registered companies in Hong Kong has reached a record high of 1.557 million.

According to data released by the Hong Kong Companies Registry, as of the end of 2025, the total number of local companies and registered non-Hong Kong companies registered under the Companies Ordinance increased by 96,600 to 1.557 million, reaching a historical high, with a growth rate of 6.6%. Statistics show that a total of 195,300 local companies and registered non-Hong Kong companies were newly established in 2025, an increase of 50,300 from the previous year, representing a growth of 34.7%. According to the classification of companies still registered on the company register at the end of 2025, there are 1.5377 million private companies, an increase of 501 guarantor companies to 18,300, and an increase of 74 public companies to 1,104. The Companies Registry stated that since the implementation of the company migration system in May 2025, the market response has been positive, with over 420 inquiries and 30 applications received by the end of 2025, with 6 companies successfully migrating to Hong Kong.
