E'Dong Expressway responds to the "Baohe Bridge Pier danger on the Shanghai-Wuhan Expressway": The pile foundation mentioned in the video circulating on the internet is an auxiliary pile and does not affect the overall safety of the bridge.
On January 16th, Hubei Jiaotou E Dong Operation Company issued a statement regarding the situation of the Bahe Bridge on the Shanghai-Wuhan Expressway: Since the opening of the Bahe Bridge on the Shanghai-Wuhan Expressway in 2009, the operation and management have been standardized, and the technical condition of the bridge has remained stable. The company has always regarded the bridge as a key maintenance object, organizing regular inspections and special inspections during the dry season every year. According to the latest regular inspection results from the industry regulatory department in August 2025, the technical condition of the bridge is classified as Class II, and the structural safety is controllable. The pile foundation mentioned in the video was set up historically for sand control and is not the main load-bearing structure of the bridge, so it does not affect the overall safety of the bridge. The erosion and exposure of the piles at piers L-20-1# and R-20-2# caused by natural undercutting of the Bahe River bed have been included in the first batch of maintenance plans for 2026, and relevant treatment works will be completed before the flood season in 2026. Currently, the bridge structure is safe, and vehicle traffic is normal.
