Comic drama is a short drama form that transforms static images from comics into dynamic and sound-effect-filled scenes through animation techniques, voice-overs, sound effects, and other means. Data from several securities firms shows that the annual revenue of comic dramas in 2025 will reach one third of the live-action drama market, with an annual market size expected to exceed 20 billion yuan, attracting a large number of talents to enter this field. In a production company in Hangzhou, the reporter saw that over half of the more than one hundred animators had joined the industry in the past six months. The company's director explained that in the past, it would take at least six months to a year of systematic training to cultivate a newcomer who could independently complete basic animation design, but now, after about a week of AI tools training and creative expression guidance, new employees can participate in simple comic drama production. The average annual salary for these positions is over 100,000 yuan. Platform data shows that from January to October 2025, over 47,000 comic dramas were released online, with a significant increase in the second half of the year. In September, 13,136 comic dramas were released, and this number further climbed to 14,726 in October. The number of comic dramas released in September and October accounted for 59.37% of the total number of comic dramas aired throughout the year, showing rapid growth.
