The United States has approved the possible sale of equipment and services to Peru to aid in the relocation of the navy base in Callao.

The U.S. Department of Defense said in a statement on Thursday that the U.S. State Department has approved the potential sale of $1.5 billion in equipment and services to Peru to support the relocation of the country's main naval base located in Callao, which would allow for the expansion of nearby ports. The Peruvian government intends to move its naval base from Callao to a few kilometers away on the coast.
