The National Conference on Ecological Environment Protection was held in Beijing.

From January 14th to 15th, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment held the national ecological environment protection work conference for 2026 in Beijing. The conference determined seven key tasks for 2026. First, coordinate the construction of a beautiful China, formulate and implement the "15th Five-Year Plan" for the ecological environment sector, and promote the construction of a beautiful China in a classified and hierarchical manner. Second, continue to deepen the pollution prevention and control efforts and optimize the ecosystem, thoroughly fight for blue skies, clean water, and pure land, strengthen comprehensive solid waste management, enhance the governance of new pollutants, and strengthen ecological protection and restoration supervision. Third, focus on enhancing the momentum of green development, promote the development of green productivity, focus on the construction of green development highlands in key regions, and actively respond to climate change. Fourth, promote ecological and environmental protection inspections and comprehensively strengthen smart law enforcement and supervision of ecological environment. Fifth, accelerate technological innovation in the ecological environment field and promote the construction of a modernized ecological environment monitoring system. Sixth, effectively protect the safety foundation of building a beautiful China, strengthen ecological security risk prevention, and ensure nuclear and radiation safety. Seventh, accelerate the improvement of the modern environmental governance system, improve laws and regulations, continue to promote national action, deepen international exchanges and cooperation, and continuously strengthen team building.
