Nanjing Metro Line 4 Phase II successfully completes the Jiangjiang River tunneling.
This morning, the Nanjing Metro Line 4 Phase II Cross-River Tunnel project was successfully completed. The Phase II project has a total length of about 10 kilometers, starting from the East Pearl Spring Station, extending east along Pu Wu Road and Ding Mountain Street, passing under the main section of the Yangtze River, Qianzhou, Jiangxin Island and Jiajiang successively, finally seamlessly connecting with Phase I at Longjiang Station, effectively linking the Jiangbei New Area, Jianye District, and Gulou District, and establishing a new cross-river transportation artery. The cross-river tunnel section is a critical key point for the entire project and is a major engineering project in the planning of the Yangtze River mainline cross-river channel layout. The tunnel is 3062.6 meters in length, and it needs to pass through the middle of the Yangtze River for a distance of 2200 meters, with the lowest point of excavation located 68.58 meters below the surface of the Yangtze River. This also sets a record for the deepest depth of the construction of cross-river metro tunnels in the Yangtze River Delta region. It is reported that this is the third cross-river metro tunnel built in Nanjing. After the project is completed, it will further improve the layout of the city's rail transit network, greatly enhance the efficiency of cross-river travel, and facilitate the production and life of people along the line.
