The Bank of China completed the first cross-border QR code payment transaction in both countries in Laos.

Based on the construction project of the central bank's cross-border digital currency cooperation infrastructure, Bank of China recently launched the first digital RMB wallet in Laos for cross-border QR code payment transactions. It is introduced that Chinese tourists can make purchases in Laos without the need to exchange foreign currency. They just need to open the digital RMB app, scan the merchant's QR code, and directly make payment in the local currency at real-time exchange rates. Local merchants in Laos do not need to modify their payment devices, as the existing methods can automatically receive funds in compliance.
