The amount of social security subsidies in Macau has been raised.

The Macao SAR Government announced today that, in accordance with the instructions of the Chief Executive under Administrative Order No. 269/2025, the amounts of four social security allowances will be increased, taking effect from January 1, 2026. The Macao SAR Government stated that the social security system serves as a basic guarantee for residents throughout their entire life cycle, and in order to demonstrate care for residents at important life milestones and provide support in times of emergencies, the amounts of four allowances will be increased from January 1, 2026. After the increase, the marriage allowance will be raised from the original MOP 2220 to MOP 4000, eligible spouses can both apply, the unemployment allowance will be increased to MOP 210/day, in terms of sickness allowance, the hospitalization allowance will be raised to MOP 240/day, the non-hospitalization allowance will be increased to MOP 180/day, and the funeral allowance will be increased to MOP 5200.
