On December 25th, as the National News and Publication Administration announced the issuance of online game licenses for December, the issuance of licenses for the entire year of 2025 officially came to a close. The total number of licenses issued this year is set at 1771, marking a new high in nearly seven years since 2019, with a growth of over 20% compared to 2024, indicating a continuous recovery in the gaming industry. Game industry analyst Zhang Shulei told a reporter from First Financial that this year's surge in licenses is not simply a quantity increase, but rather a result of the industry consensus shifting towards high-quality games, leading to an increase in the number of high-quality games. "With the increase in licenses, improvement in game quality, expansion of overseas game markets, and the implementation of incentive policies for gaming and e-sports across various regions, the Chinese gaming industry is embarking on a new golden decade," Zhang Shulei concluded.
