Goldman Sachs (GS.N) recently notified some alternative investment funds under its umbrella that their data may have been exposed due to a security vulnerability at a law firm that the bank works with. In a letter to investors on December 19th, Goldman Sachs stated that they had been informed by their external legal counsel, the law firm Fried, about a "cybersecurity incident". The bank said they are working with the law firm to "further understand whether our or our clients' data may have been compromised". This letter was included in proposed collective litigation materials on Wednesday. The plaintiff, Andrew Sachs, an investor in Goldman Sachs' Petershill Private Equity Seed II Offshore Fund, has filed a lawsuit against Fried. A spokesperson for Goldman Sachs stated, "Goldman Sachs' systems were not affected by this incident and remain secure."
