In 2025, our country's maritime system will efficiently and safely secure water transportation.

As of now, China's maritime system has efficiently ensured the safe passage of 34.647 million vessels, 200.9 billion tons of cargo, and 310 million standard containers in and out of ports, with 280 million passengers traveling safely, representing a year-on-year increase of 9.4%, 6.2%, 8.4%, and 6.2% respectively. This information was obtained by reporters on the 24th at the 2026 National Maritime Work Conference held by the Maritime Bureau of the Ministry of Transport. Xu Wei, the secretary of the Party Committee of the Maritime Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, stated at the meeting that in 2025, the maritime system effectively guaranteed the water transportation of 4.7 billion tons of grain, 31.3 billion tons of ore, 31.8 billion tons of coal, 14.7 billion tons of oil, and 1745.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas, ensuring smooth and efficient transportation of important materials by waterway. Xu Wei stated that in 2025, the number of maritime transportation accidents and the number of deaths decreased by 36.7% and 13.8% respectively compared to the previous year, and the maritime traffic safety situation has continued to remain stable.
