A 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in Taitung County, Taiwan at 17:47 on the 24th, causing temporary disruptions to transportation across Taiwan. The Kaohsiung MRT was temporarily shut down for 5 minutes, with light rail trains stopping on the entire line, but services have now resumed. The Taichung MRT also reduced its speed. Additionally, the power system at the Taitung substation of the Taiwan Railway automatically activated its protection mechanism. Starting from 18:00, the section between Guanshan and Jinlun in Taitung on the Taiwan Railway was temporarily impassable. Train operations have been suspended and passengers are being transported by road. The Taiwan Railway has stated that the impact of this event is expected to last for more than 2 hours.
