Youku announced an upgrade to its drama collaboration model, with drama projects under the platform gradually incorporating the EPI (Effective Play Index) rating system. The platform will provide incentive bonuses to production companies based on the system ratings and actual performance of the dramas after they have been aired. EPI is a value evaluation index for drama content on Youku, which can intuitively reflect the performance of dramas on the platform, including internal ratings, play heat, and internal revenue. Under the new rules, Youku will calculate the corresponding incentive amount based on the EPI value 90 days after the end of the drama's popular period, and complete the approval and distribution within 7 working days. Previously, the commercial model of the film and television industry mainly relied on "fixed production fees," with a lack of long-term incentive mechanisms for content production and returns. The "EPI model" is expected to change this situation.
