Four informed sources said that the U.S. Department of the Treasury has rejected a "bid" led by U.S. bank Xtellus Partners to acquire the overseas assets of Russia's Lukoil. Xtellus had previously been competing with ExxonMobil, Chevron, and the Abu Dhabi International Holding Group. In addition, Hungary's MOL Group and the U.S. private equity firm Carlyle Group are still participating in the bidding. The U.S. Department of the Treasury declined to comment on this.
