Baltic Dry Index hits five-month low

On Tuesday, the Baltic Dry Index fell to a five-month low, as all ship type indices weakened. The Baltic Dry Index dropped 90 points or 4.55% to 1889 points, hitting its lowest level since July 15. The Capesize index fell 222 points or about 6.2% to 3337 points, reaching a new low in over a month. Capesize vessels' daily earnings decreased by $1842 to $27676. The Panamax index fell to a low of over six months, dropping 16 points or 1.3% to 1266 points, hitting its lowest level since June 9. Panamax vessels' daily earnings decreased by $149 to $11391. The Supramax index fell by 31 points to 1162 points.
