The National Conference on the High-quality Development of Long-term Care Insurance was held yesterday in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province in 2025. The conference was informed that since the trial implementation of the long-term care insurance system in 2016, the system now covers nearly 300 million people, benefiting more than 3.3 million disabled individuals with a cumulative fund expenditure exceeding one trillion yuan. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China will promote the full coverage of the long-term care insurance system. Since 2016, the country has successively launched pilot long-term care insurance systems in 49 cities, focusing on ensuring the basic needs of the people and defining the scope of coverage reasonably. The insurance system provides assistance to disabled individuals in eating, bathing, routine medication, and other medical care services, with the fund sharing the cost of care services as required. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the cumulative reduction in the burden of care service costs for the public exceeded 60 billion yuan.
