French presidential palace staff suspected of stealing and selling state banquet utensils, Louvre security guards suspected of receiving stolen goods.
An employee of the French presidential palace, the Elysee Palace, is suspected of selling stolen silverware and tableware used for state banquets and other activities. The stolen items are worth tens of thousands of euros, and a security guard from the Louvre Museum is suspected of receiving stolen goods in this case. According to French prosecutors, the Elysee Palace discovered that silverware and tableware worth between 15,000 and 40,000 euros had disappeared. One of the main suppliers of the Elysee Palace, the Sevres porcelain factory, found some of the missing items on an auction website. Investigators have identified a silverware manager at the Elysee Palace as a suspect, and found plates with "French Air Force" markings and Sevres-produced ashtrays in his auction website account, which are not items available in the market.
