More than 3,300 people have enjoyed the policy of a one-year visa-free stay for transit passengers in Kunming Airport for 240 hours.
Starting from December 17, 2024, China will extend the existing 72-hour/144-hour transit visa-free policy to 240 hours. In the past year, more than 3,300 people have enjoyed the convenience of this policy at Kunming Changshui International Airport. According to statistics from the Kunming Immigration Inspection Station, as of December 20, 2025, there have been over 572,000 foreign passengers entering Kunming airport this year. Among them, more than 411,000 are foreign nationals entering visa-free. Over seventy percent of the foreign passengers entering are tourists, no longer just transiting passengers, but becoming deep tourists immersed in the ethnic customs and natural landscapes of Yunnan. This transformation not only demonstrates the stimulating effect of the visa-free policy on inbound tourism consumption, but also confirms Yunnan's unique attraction as an international tourist destination.
