On December 19th, the China Iron and Steel Industry Association organized a symposium in Shanghai on the downstream associations and related steel companies of the iron and steel industry in 2025. The meeting analyzed the operating characteristics of the downstream industry in 2025 and the consumption of steel materials, and predicted the development trend for 2026. The Deputy Secretary-General of the Iron and Steel Association, Shi Hongwei, pointed out that consumption is a prerequisite for production, consumption structure determines product structure, and product structure determines production structure. The iron and steel industry has already shifted from the "incremental development" stage to the "reduction and optimization" stage. Changes in downstream industry demand profoundly impact the operation of the iron and steel industry, making it particularly important to analyze and assess the total demand and structure under the current situation.
